Shandell's is a working lampshade and vintage lighting studio located at 34 Main Street in Millerton NY. The working studio is housed in a newly renovated century old building, which features a prominent front window, ideal for displaying Shandell's lampshades and vintage lighting. The front part of the studio is where customers can see the array of vintage lamps, lampshades and home accents available. The back portion of the space is the workshop where Shandell's creates the many things that make you smile.

Shandell's started making lampshades 10 years ago as Susan Schneider, the founder, started acquiring more and more vintage lamps for her shop (which specialized in vintage textiles and decorative accessories.) She was unable to find a lampshade that she loved. Thanks for Shandell's lampshade success goes to an early customer Liz Courtney who had a lampshade company. Susan approached her to teach her the craft, but instead she sold the business to Susan. Susan taught her self to make lampshades; she started making them from vintage wallpaper that she had been collecting over the years. As Shandell's lampshade business started to grow so did the array of papers and images that customers could choose from for their custom made lampshades.

More recently, decorative night lights have come to comprise a large portion of the business. Susan was unable to find a decorative night light for a great old house she was living in and decided to us some of her vintage wallpaper to make one. Now Shandell's offers a wide array of night lights which include vintage sporting art, monograms, decorative papers, vintage dogs and animals, vintage children's prints and more. Susan considers these night lights tiny pieces of wall art. Along with lampshades and vintage lighting, Shandell's also creates lamps, tissue boxes and other things that make you smile.

From the south take Route 22 north to the intersection of Route 44, make a right and we are 1/2 mile on right.

From the east take Route 44, when you get to the center of Millerton we are on the left.
