A Country Digest for January

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

How Are Those New Year's Resolutions Coming These Days?  Last year I made 12 Resolutions.  One for each month.  6 Goals for Business and 6 Personal Goals.  I managed to accomplish an acceptable 5 out of 6 of the Business Goals and only 1 of the Personal Goals.  Have you also taken a back seat to your business or work routine?  Now, we know that we shouldn't do that, right?

I once had a client with his PHD in psychology.  He had a few issues of his own to tackle and  he set up a point system each day of accomplishments or activities that he should do each day so allow him to feel good about himself.  We were leisurely  talking one afternoon and I asked if he could share his point system with me.  After much hesitation and disclaimers that he didn't think it was really working for him, he shared.......................  He had set up a system or a list of tasks each day that almost guaranteed that he would fail.  I quickly pointed this out to him thinking that I would be doing him a favor; but as often happens.................it was kill the messenger!!!!

Needless to say, he is no longer a client of mine; but I thought I had learned a lesson about Goals or Resolutions.  Apparently I had to relearn this lesson.  In hindsight, which is a perfect way to view a problem.............I would probably have made out better to have fewer goals or to have accomplished less in the business column and more in the personal column.

So how are you doing?  I'll share with you if you share with me.  Email me at Marti@SteedRealEstate.com and share how you are doing or which resolutions you chose this year.  Let me know if I can post them here or maybe set up a little support system blog. We can all use a little support now and then and a cheering squad does help at sports events.  Looking forward to hearing from you!       Marti

......Straight From the Horses Mouth.........What does the phrase mean "I got it straight from the horses mouth?” It means you have privileged, 'inside' information. It derives, I think, from racing, in which one might get the likely winner 'from the horse's mouth'  Or from the fact that a horse's age can be deduced by looking at its teeth (which is why it's bad manners to "look a gift horse in the mouth"). If somebody tells you the horse's age, well, maybe it's true and maybe it's not. But the answer you get from the horse's mouth is reliable.

So, The news you will see here will be what I consider to be "inside, reliable information"  It won't always come from the same horse source. The information won't usually be coming from this Horse's (Marti Steed) Mouth; but from those whom I respect and feel are telling the plain truth with an educated point of view. Read about Breast Cancer: How to avoid it and how to live your life in recovery.  October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.   From The Horses Mouth
