All About Pergolas

And there are so many more verities.  A Pergola, is a garden structure made of an open grid of wood/or welded metal beams supported by pillars over which plants may grow.   History:  Pergolas first appeared in ancient Egypt an then became a popular feature of Renaissance-era gardens.  Pergolas were popular in areas with hot climates and especially in Italy.

The Purpose:  In addition to adding character to a garden, a pergola provides shade and supports those climbing plants that I love so very much.  Grape vines, honeysuckle, wisteria; try hanging plant baskets from the roof grids intertwined with white twinkling lights.  There is no end to decorating possibilities.

Sources:  Building your own though satisfying, can be a difficult and challenging job. That is where Steed Home Restoration "Landscape Design and Construction" can come to your rescue.  Give Jason Steed a call:  518-789-6074 for an on site consultation.

If I can prove that Jason, (my dear son whose Mother is still waiting for his crew to show up), received this referral from my site; maybe he will finally build one of these wonderful yard or garden elements for ME!  You know the story about the shoemaker's children, right?! I have already tried blackmail and good old fashioned Irish Guilt.  Hey, you never know!
