Krieger, Karl Hemingway
Karl Krieger is the Philip Geier Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Vice Chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center.
After graduating from Amherst College, Dr. Krieger pursued his medical school education, as well as his surgical internship and residency, at Johns Hopkins University. He completed his general and cardiovascular surgical training at New York University Medical Center and then joined the faculty of The New York University School of Medicine in 1981. Dr. Krieger was soon appointed to be the Director of the Cardiovascular Research Laboratory.

In 1985, Dr. Krieger joined the faculty at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where he now serves as Vice Chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. His responsibilities include teaching medical students, residents and cardiothoracic fellows, as well as directing a large clinical research program. He is the author and co-author of over 100 medical articles and abstracts and recently wrote and co-edited the textbook, "Blood Conservation in Cardiac Surgery." Dr. Krieger's primary interest is in maintaining a high volume, outstanding clinical care program.

The guest on the first post-surgery show that Philbin and Ripa taped was fellow heart disease survivor David Letterman, the comedian and host of CBS's "Late Show With David Letterman." Also appearing on the program were Doctor Wayne Isom and Doctor Karl Krieger, the open heart surgeons who performed Letterman's and Philbin's bypass procedure.

Karl Krieger passed through our offices about 7 years ago.  He purchased some land in the area through our company and at the same time recommended the best orthopedic surgeon there is.  Dr. Ranawat performed a flawless surgery on my hip and spoke very highly about Dr. Krieger when I first interviewed him.  I have recommended satisfied patients to the Dr since and I totally trust his judgment.  If you meet with Dr. Krieger regarding any of the below areas of expertise, you can believe his recommendations come directly "From the Horse's Mouth.
